Preliminary sketch, showing site

The preliminary sketch is interesting because, in this case, the later plans differ significantly from what was developed out of the first consultation with the client.  As Purcell notes in his Parabiographies entry, this design developed during the time George Elmslie was beginning to be present in the Minneapolis office.  Between Purcell, Elmslie, and the additional participation of drafter Marion Alice Parker, the final design has a lighter, if slightly more formal, feel.
